The Parkesburg Free Library was one of 10 libraries that benefitted from a grant secured by State Senator Katie Muth to purchase a selection of Decodable Books for their collection.

Decodable Books help beginning readers learn to read by focusing on phonics as the primary skill to "decode" words, rather than guessing the words based on pictures.

Octorara Primary Learning Center Reading Specialist Shirley Williams will share research-based strategies that caregivers can use at home to support their kindergarten through 2nd grade children who are learning to read.
